Week 6 of the 2024-2025 School Year

thecompletestudent

Hello TCS Families,

This was a tricky week! We had 1-3 teachers out every single day this week! In true Swamp Rabbit fashion, we figured out a path and made it work :)

Not so great news: I need to remind all middle school students that they MUST put their phone in the teacher's lounge. They are NOT allowed to have phones. Not in their pocket. Not in their bag. I have given all my warnings. If I catch someone with a phone, there will be consequences.

Mr. Henry went to watch former Swamp Rabbit, and his son, Aidan Dreier graduate from Bootcamp! We are so proud!

Meanwhile the Middle Schoolers started making maps in Social Studies and made clouds in Science!

We want to thank Melinda Henrickson and Josh Scallate for coming and speaking with our Government class this week! I heard things in that room became quite impassioned! ALL of the politicians who have come in to speak to our Government class have left saying some version of; "if these students are an example of what the future holds, we are in good hands!"

TCS Swimming is starting!!! Swim practices will be held at the YMCA. We will start on Tuesday October 1st 3:15-4:00. Swimmers will need to sign in at the front desk when they arrive (but they do NOT need to be a member of the YMCA) If you are interested in Swimming for the TCS team please talk to Ms. Emily- everyone is welcome! Practices will be every Tuesday 3:15-4:00 at the YMCA (1801 Richmond Ave, Port Royal, SC)

I'm excited to congratulate:

1) The ESPorts Team: The ESports Chess team kicked off their inaugural season with a 6-0 sweep in their first matchup.  Evan B, Noah J, and Gabe C, each beat 2 opponents and WON the match without needing to play a third match!

2) The Cross Country Team: The TCS Swamp Rabbits finally had their first meet! They did great! Heather Ball came in second out of all the girls in the race! Big shout out to Chris, Christian, and Leland who were all our top three runners!

Please Remember:

- If you are paying tuition "quarterly" please remember that your next invoice comes out October 1st.

- Seniors are dismissed at 2:50 but the rest of the students are not dismissed until 2:59. They are supposed to go to their cleaning groups and wait for me to call their name on the walkie talkie. Please drive up Battery Creek Road to Southside. DO NOT stop on the other side of Southside and ask your student to cross the street and hop in your car.

- We have a PTO meeting on Saturday the 28th at 4pm here at TCS. Please come if you are interested in joining the PTO.

- We have a fundraiser happening with SC's amature hockey league and the Ghost Pirates. The game is NOV 23, and they are playing the Greenville Swamp Rabbits! Use the link below to purchase tickets. Proceeds from ticket sales go to TCS.

- Homecoming Dance is 7pm-10pm on Friday October 18th (Tickets will be sold at the door- $10 for students, $15 for guests) and the Homecoming Cookout is October 19th 11am-2pm (Free)

October 9th-11th is Parent Teacher Conferences. They will be held in the NEW BUILDING this year. Please sign up for a session and be on time. If you are new to a TCS Parent/Teacher conference, it is a different kind of experience. You will come and meet with all of the teachers at the same time. We will give you your child's Progress Report and some feedback about how your child is doing at school. We are as efficient as possible- we get right to the heart of it as quickly as possible and then on to the next student. If you are unable to attend during the offered times, please text and we can set something else up. We can also send progress reports home through email as needed. The teachers are here doing conferences ALL day...if you have the time and resources to surprise us with treats, we will say nicer things about your students! LOL, just kidding! But we do really like food, treats, and coffee! :)

Please use this link to sign up:

Stay dry and safe!
